PPBio & Axcxell 2025

The 2025 Call for Startup Selection is an initiative of Axcxell Accelerator and Business Consulting and the Priority Bioeconomy Program (PPBio), which is coordinated by the Institute for Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Amazon (IDESAM). The mission is to select bioeconomy startups operating in Western Amazonia (Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, Roraima) or in the State of Amapá.

The objective is to foster solutions that promote environmental sustainability, income generation, innovative use of Amazonian biodiversity, and productive inclusion. Interested startups must have innovative business models, with proven growth potential, and already be in the operation or traction phase.

The call offers the opportunity to receive financial investment ranging from R$ 1 million to R$ 10 million, in exchange for equity participation. In addition to the investment, selected companies will receive support, mentoring, and access to the contact network of Axcxell and the ecosystem coordinated by IDESAM, aiming to accelerate their development and regional impact.

Who can participate?

Bioeconomy startups with a validated business model.

The company’s headquarters, branch, or operation must be mandatorily located in the states of Western Amazonia (Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, and Roraima) or in the state of Amapá. Startups must be in the operation or traction phase and demonstrate growth potential. To know all the requirements, a complete reading of the public notice is essential.

Bioactive prospection
Search and identification of molecules from the Amazonian flora for application in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food.
Support technologies for bioeconomy chains
Traceability and logistics solutions to strengthen the productive chains of the forest, from producer to consumer.Soluções de rastreabilidade e logística para fortalecer as cadeias produtivas da floresta, do produtor ao consumidor.
Synthetic biology, biomimetics, and bioinformatics
Creation of innovative materials and ingredients inspired by biological systems through advanced tools.
Processes, products, and services related to the bioeconomy
Development of high-value products and services derived from biodiversity inputs, such as biocosmetics and food.
Waste treatment and bioremediation
Transformation of agro-industry waste into new products and recovery of contaminated areas using biological processes.

Counter Benefits

Financial Contribution
Selected startups may receive a financial contribution between R$ 1 million and R$ 10 million, according to the criteria defined by the Organizers and the PPBio guidelines.

Technical Support
Companies will have qualified technical support from an incubator or accelerator accredited by CAPDA, receiving strategic guidance during the fundraising and execution of resources.

Access to Contact Networks
Startups will have access to the innovation and investment ecosystem of Axcxell and IDESAM, with relevant connections in local, national, and international networks.

Institutional Visibility
Selected projects also gain institutional visibility among key players in bioeconomy, innovation, and sustainability in the Amazon.

Selection and Evaluation Process

The initial analysis of the proposals will be carried out by the team of the Call Organizers (Axcxell and Idesam/PPBio). In the final stage of the process, the classified startups may be invited to present their projects and documents to a deliberative panel. This panel will be composed of the Organizers and invited experts, who will make the final decision on the investments to be made.
